Focal Point Stamping

When I received the “My Neighborhood 2” stamp set from Two Paper Divas I had so many ideas swirling in my head. I have already used this set for this card HERE but as you know I really like to use my sets a number of times. So today I pulled out this stamp set again to do a bit of Focal Point Stamping. Make sure to watch the video below to see exactly how I created today’s card and remember the entire Two Paper Divas Store is now 50% off until supplies last of the end of December, so be sure to get those sets that you’ve wanted!

ENJOY!!

Starting with a white card stock panel that measured 4″ x  5.25″, My MISTI, Memento Tuxedo Black Ink and the houses from the My Neighborhood 2 stamp set, I started stamping out a pattern, filling in as much white space as possible with my stamps. I also made sure that the stamp I wanted to color in was fully on the paper and in the bottom right hand corner. I kept moving stamps around and stamping them repeatedly until the entire panel was filled with houses, going every different direction. When doing the Focal Point Stamping technique and only coloring in one of your stamped images, you really want to make sure to put a little extra time and effort into that one colored image. I used my alcohol markers to color in just one house and really took my time and made sure to add some nice shading.

My next step was to cut some banners with two different sizes of banner dies and on the larger, black banner I heat embossed my sentiment in white. I then adhered each banner down in the top left hand corner of the panel and ran this panel through my die cutting machine with a stitching die on the left hand side of the panel.

I used the holes from the stitching die as a guide to do some hand stitching with a golden yellow floss. It did take a bit of time to do this, but the effect and little extra interest it gives the card is sooo worth it! I used a simple running stitch, but you could always get fancy and do a more intricate stitch! To finish this card off I simply popped up the panel onto an A2 top folding card base using fun foam and double sided adhesive.

I love this Focal Point Stamping technique and the effect it gives your card. Leaving all images, except one, black and white really lets that color pop and be the shining star of your card. That being said, make sure you use a coloring medium that you are comfortable with and put in that little bit of extra effort with your one colored image!
