Let’s Make a Shaker Card (Again)

It is the beginning of the month, and that means a brand new challenge over at DS4J.  As always, it is an Anything Goes Challenge and although we LOVE to see Digistamps4Joy images, it doesn’t have to be. So you can literally enter any card you might make into the Challenge and win some great prizes!!! But, if you’re looking for an extra challenge, or just some inspiration the twist this month is All about Love!!! And with Valentine’s Day approaching quickly, it’s time to start thinking and creating up some Love cards!! So make sure to head over to the DS4J blog and link up one of your creations!!And, if you want to see how I used a digital stamp from DS4J to create a fun, interactive shaker card with a love theme watch the video below to get your creativity flowing!!

ENJOY!

I began with the “Magnified Love” Digital Stamp from Ds4J and enlarged it in Photoshop Elements on a 4″ x 5.25″ blank panel. I printed off two panels (with crop marks) onto white card stock, with my laser printer and trimmed both panels down to size with my paper trimmer. Then, using a circle die about the same size as the “glass” of the magnifying glass I cut out the center on one panel.

Using my alcohol markers I colored in the center of the magnifying glass on the panel without any die cutting and the magnifying glass and outside of the heart on the die cut panel. Because this is such a simple card design, I did put a little extra effort into my coloring and shading

Using the same circle die cut as before I cut out a circle in a piece of fun foam that was slightly smaller than the top panel (Make sure to watch the video to see how to get your placement correct!).  After adding double sided adhesive to the fun foam I put it down onto the uncut panel, making sure to line up the cut out circle with the inside of the magnifying glass, and filled it up with gold and black sequins.

This image would make a gorgeous clean and simple card without the shaker, but adding that little extra interest makes this card so much more fun, especially for kids! So when looking at your stamps whether traditional or digital try and think of ways you can try and make them interactive, especially for kiddos who get such a big kick out of interactive cards!

Also, if you have not yet went and visited the DS4J Blog and checked out the challenge, make sure to do that now! Be sure to enter a card of yours into the challenge to be eligible for the great prizes as well! If you are interested in any of the supplies that I used on today’s card, you will find them all linked below! (Some affiliate links may be used at no additional cost to you!) Thanks for stopping by today! Happy Crafting!
