Ink Lifting with Stencils

Hello Everyone!!! It’s Lindsay from the DT here with you today on the last day of the September Release! This release has been so amazing and full of awesome inspiration featuring all of the brand new products!! This release there was a BRAND NEW 6X6 STENCIL released!!! It’s called Halloween Scene and features a very intricate and spooky Halloween scene! I’ve already shared one technique you can use with this brand new stencil over on my blog – emboss resist with stencils. Today, I want to share another fun technique you can use with this new stencil that is so easy and allows you to create a background for your cards in a snap! Be sure and watch the full video tutorial below for all the details!!!

I made the card above using the brand new and unique “Zombody” Stamp Set. This set is super unique, I’ve never seen anything like it, and not only is it perfect for the few Halloween cards I make, but also birthday cards, love cards, Valentine’s Day, etc! This is going to perfect for all the zombie lovers!! Here’s a close up of the finished card, but be sure to watch the video tutorial above to see exactly how I made the background and also put the rest of the card together!!

I also wanted to share another card with you today, using the brand new Harvest Happiness Stamp Set and the Fall Border Dies. This set is another one of my favorites from this release! Isn’t it awesome that so many everyday sentiments are included in the sets?? I LOVE being able to use these sets year round and stretching my dollars!!! I made another card with this set, which has already been given as a thank you card, using the “A Note of Thanks” sentiment, but today I actually pulled out my Simply Said Sentiment Set and stamped “Hugs” for my sentiment which I think fits perfectly with this little scarecrow!!!

Finished Card 1

I also used the Garden Border Dies along with the brand new Fall Border Dies to create my background scene. To make the trees different autumn colors, I simply die cut the tops from a few pieces of scrap card stock and cut the entire border from a green card stock. After coloring the trunks brown with an alcohol marker, I glued the colored top over a few of the green tops to mix it up! I also added distress inks to all of my die cuts today, for added depth!! One of my favorite features of the CDD dies are they all have the same MATCHING stitching. I can mix and match soo many amazing sets to create my cards and not worry about finding stitching that matches! For instance, on this card along I used four different die sets – Garden Borders, Fall Borders, Flag Banners, and Fancy Frames – and ALL of my stitching matches which really helps the card look more cohesive!!

Finished Card 3
