Using Glitter with Stencils

Today is the fourth day of sneak peeks for the October Release and if you have missed any of the fun or peeks from the DT, head over to the Facebook Release Event and check them all out!! I want to share a card that I made using the brand new Holiday Hugs stamp Set, but that isn’t the only set being sneak peeked today! To view some cards and projects made with both the Holiday Hugs set and Holly Jolly Set, again, be sure to head over to the October Release Event where the DT will be sharing a ton of photos!!! You can also watch the video tutorial below to see how I put together my card for today, and used the brand new stencil to add some glittery snow flurries to my card!!

Starting with the Santa image from the Holiday Hugs, I colored him in with my alcohol markers, using a white gel pen to correct any coloring I did outside the lines. Then, I did some die cutting. Using the stitched rectangle die included in the Fancy Frame Dies, I die cut a sentiment panel, then die cut the top of that with the house and tree border die included in the Fall Border Dies. With the same rectangle die, I die cut a piece of white card stock. And with the large scalloped rectangle in the Fancy Frame Die Set I also die cut a piece of white card stock.

After overlaying the brand new Snow Flurries Stencil on the large plain rectangle die cut, I used Matte Gel Medium and a foam brush to apply a thin layer of gel medium through the stencil. I found it best to pounce and then smooth on the medium to fill in all the details. After smoothing the medium, I removed the stencil and cleaned up any overhang on the edges with my finger. Then, I sprinkled on clear/white glitter (I used Distress Rock Candy Glitter). The gel medium acts as a glue and will allow the glitter to adhere to the snow flurries without any flaking off.

Finished Card 4

I sat this piece aside to dry and brought out my alcohol markers again to color in the trees and houses on the sentiment die cut. Then, it was time to put the card together. All of my layers were adhered to an A2 side folding white card base and I started with the scalloped rectangle. I popped it up with fun foam and double sided adhesive and then adhered my stenciled die cut on top of that with double sided adhesive. Using more double sided adhesive and fun foam, I popped up my sentiment panel, making sure to line the bottom up with the stencil die cut bottom. Finally, I popped up my Santa image in the top right hand corner!!

Finished Card 2

This card was such an easy and fun card to make and I love the little pops of color on this monochromatic layered card! Not to mention, that sentiment is soo fun!!!! But that does it for me today, and if you are interested in any of the CDD supplies I used on my card today, you will find them all linked below. (Affiliate links are used at no additional cost to you.)

Remember, the new supplies will not be available for purchase until 10/13/17 so set your alarms now!! Until next time, Happy Crafting!!
