Distressing Rinea Foil + A Harry Potter Inspired Card

All this month Crackerbox & Suxy Stamps is joining forces with Rinea Foil to bring you some really fun projects! Today, I am sharing a Harry Potter inspired card and I also want to share how I distressed my Rinea foil and made it into a fun background that fit perfectly with this card! I also shared a few more backgrounds, to share this technique works so well with many different types of cards! Be sure to watch the video tutorial below for all the details!

If you haven’t heard of Rinea Foil, let me start by telling you a bit about it. It is a foil paper that can be bent and holds it’s shape, it can be die cut, it can embossed, used as is for color and shine, and so much more! But there is also the Ghost Ink from Rinea Foil. This is so much fun to play around with and while it’s great for stamping and having the foil react with those stamps, it can also be used just from the pad itself. Today, I took the ink pad and swiped it directly onto the foil paper. I let the ink sit on the foil paper for about 30 seconds and then spritzed the foil paper with alcohol. I find alcohol works best and reactivates any ink that might’ve dried. Finally, I wiped away the ink to reveal a very fun background!

To add even more interest to the background I used Staz On ink, which is a permanant ink that works best on non porous surfaces, to swipe more color. I used both the Claret and Black colors for my project today. To finish the front of the card I stamped and colored some Harry Potter inspired stamps from Crackerbox & Suzy Stamps. I LOVE the little sorting hat stamp. I colored him, and all of my stamped images with Distress Inks and fussy cut them. The front of the card was finished with a fun Gryffindor Saying sentiment stamp on vellum!

I always like to bring a little bit of the outside of the card to the inside as well, and today is no exception! I used the Muggle Happy Birthday sentiment stamp and added a few more images that I had stamped and fussy cut and colored with Distress Inks. That finished the entire card!

I absolutely adore this card! It was so much fun to make and the background was super easy, too!! If you are interested in any of the supplies I used on my card today, you can find them all linked down below! Until next time, Happy Crafting!!

  1. Your card is mystical! Loved learning about the foil. I thought foils had to used with foil type machine so have not thought about using them. Thank you so much for sharing your talents and delivering great info and inspiration.
