I struggle with watercolor backgrounds. For some reason, mine never turn out. And I admire them so much, I really wanted to find a way to get the watercolor look that works for me. Today I’m sharing some simple ombre “watercolor” backgrounds over on the Imagine channel! Be sure to watch the video tutorial below!

To create these backgrounds I reached for my Memento Markers. These are such a great way to get the watercolor look with more control and less mess! To create each background I used four markers all in one color family, but different shades. I scribbled the colors next to each other on watercolor paper and used a water brush to blend them together. Super easy!!
These backgrounds are great for layering! On my first card I layered the background with a stencil and Gold Paste from Imagine. After adding a die cut sentiment and a few jewels this card was finished!
I layered on my second background, too, but this time with ink. Again, I used a stencil but sponged through Versafine Clair Nocturne ink for a nice black bold stenciled look! I added the same die cut sentiment to this card for the finishing touch!
I also want to mention that on both of these cards I added glitter to the backgrounds after I blended the markers but before they were dry. I used the Shimmer Spritz’s to do this! They add SO MUCH SPARKLE!!!!
