Have you played along with the Craftin Desert Divas September Challenge yet?? If you haven’t, I would HIGHLY suggest doing so! The mood board this month is gorgeous and has an amazing color pallette to play with! Here’s a look at the September mood/inspiration board – isn’t it just beautiful??
When I seen the this inspiratoin board, I was immediately drawn to the top right hand corner. I wanted to try and create some felt flowers with my CDD Circles Dies. I used several sets with different sized and different edges circle dies to create some fun dimensional flowers. You can watch the full video tutorial below to see how I put the entire card together.
These felt flowers were super simple to make. For my felt, I used several colors from the pallette – a coral, light blue, brown, mustard/brownish yellow, cream, and dark purple. All of my felt is the cheap stuff ( .25 for a sheet) and it die cut BEAUTIFULLY with all of the CDD dies I used. I ended up using quite a few die sets as well – the Stitched In Circle Dies, Inside Scalloped Circle Dies, and also some of the small flowers in the Crazy Stitched Frames Die Set. Also, the best adhesive I found is hot glue. You could try other types of adhesive, but the hot glue is fast, easy, and secures the flowers quite well.
Like I said above, the flowers are very easy to make and pretty much all of them follow the same instructions. However, the edges of the circle dies can make all the differencein the way the flowers look. I liked having a variety on my card front, which is why I used so many different sizes and edges! After putting together the flowers, I also found the best way to secure the flowers onto my card front was the hot glue as well.
For the rest of the card, I used the Wishful Thoughts Stamp Set, which I embossed in Princess Gold embossing powder. I also added a kraft frame using the Inside Scalloped Rectangle Die Set to frame out the entire card front. Finally, I added a few ferns that I die cut from gold card stock with a die from the Inside Scalloped Circle Dies. I finished off the card by adding a few drops of Liquid Pearls to the center on a few of the flowers. You could also add sequins, Nuvo Drops, pearls, rhinestones or any other bling you might want to the center of the flowers for a fun addition.
